After drilling, and prior to any driving of rivets, metal sheets must be held securely in position to prevent
slipping during riveting. When two pieces of metal have been drilled through, several varieties of skin
fasteners are available for holding them in alignment.
When it becomes necessary to remove rivets, great care should be taken so that the rivet hole will retain
its original size and not require replacement with a larger rivet. Rivet removal procedures are shown in the
accompanying illustration.
